Take a Day Trip and Explore the Area With Clacton-on-Sea Minibus
Clacton-on-Sea is located in an area known as the Sunshine Coast. Not to be confused with a stretch of coastline with the same name in Australia, it does have some very interesting places to visit and some wondrous sights to see. There's Clacton Pier and Pavilion. A regular music festival is held at Brightlingsea and there are also annual air shows. For those interested in nature or bird-watching there is The Lozenge Nature Area, the Sunshine Coastal Walk and various wildlife parks, petting zoos and farms.
Places to Visit in and Around Clacton-on-Sea
Jaywick Martello Tower – This is a restored tower that was used to defend the area in the 1800s. Today it is used as an arts venue as well as for holding exhibits, events and workshops.
Colne Point – This 276-hectare nature reserve is located south-west of Clacton. Managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
East Essex Aviation Museum – This museum holds an amazing collection of items relating to World War II, many of which have connections with the local area.
Frinton-on-Sea Beach – For a more traditional day out spend the day at Frinton. There are no modern amusements or traders, just a mile long sandy beach, promenade and Victorian style beach huts.
